Trail Overview
This off-road adventure begins at a four-way intersection, traversing a broad, well-trodden path near Rancho Los Innocentes. The initial segment is moderately bumpy with a light sand covering. Approximately three miles in, a flat area on the right offers a suitable camping spot. Continuing onward, the terrain becomes more engaging, featuring multiple turns and dips into and out of washes. Emerging from the arroyo, the route encircles the ranch house. Beyond this point, the road smooths out, providing a pleasant drive with potential coyote sightings, and passes by the entrance to the beach near the federal lighthouse. The trail extends for another mile or so, offering additional beach access points on the right. However, drivers of 2WD vehicles should exercise caution, as venturing toward the lighthouse or beach access roads can lead to becoming easily stuck. Proceeding beyond the trail's end, the road ascends into sand dunes with deep sand, presenting a significant risk of immobilization for 2WD vehicles, with no available turnaround spots.

Difficulty
This off-road trail is generally accessible to 2WD vehicles with adequate ground clearance. However, caution is advised in two specific areas: first, entering sandy sections near the beaches or proceeding beyond the designated trail's end can lead to vehicles becoming easily immobilized in deep sand; second, the terrain behind the sand dunes may become wet during unusually high tides or following storms, posing additional challenges, particularly for 2WD vehicles.
