Trail Overview
This route begins off the Santa Domingo West Trail as a soft, sandy path that is narrow but navigable with care to avoid scratching your vehicle. This trail is more frequently traveled than others in the area, resulting in minor washboarding in spots, but it remains mostly smooth. Along the way, you'll encounter discarded oyster shells--a common sight near fishing zones--but the trail soon transitions into gentle ups and downs before opening onto a coastal route. The final stretch offers a stunning drive along a river, with vibrant mangroves teeming with birdlife on your left and contrasting desert landscapes on your right, leading to a beach near a fishing boat launch and lighthouse. Be mindful of coyotes in the area, as they appear unafraid of humans, and keep small pets close. From the trail's end, exploration awaits, but exercise caution with rising tides--dry areas can become impassable within hours.

Difficulty
This trail is suitable for any 2WD vehicle with decent ground clearance. You'll encounter some sandy sections, but the sand is relatively shallow and shouldn't pose a significant challenge, especially during dry weather conditions. Beware of the low-lying areas past the lighthouse. These seemingly dry lake beds often have tire tracks but fill with water daily at high tide.
