Trail Overview

Rat Lake Road begins just past the turnoff for Hatheume Lake Resort on Hatheume Lake FSR. This narrow, double-track trail is easy to drive and winds through a young forest of pine trees. The trail ends at a gate before reaching the lake, but a short walk around the gate leads to Rat Lake, where free-range cattle can often be spotted.
