Trail Overview
Hecht Beach Main, also known as TK100, is a scenic 10.5-kilometer (6.5-mile) in-and-out dirt trail that branches off from Topknot Main and leads to the Hecht Beach trailhead.. The road is single-vehicle width and winds through a forested landscape lined with berry bushes and colorful wildflowers. Expect a bumpy ride with numerous potholes, so airing down is advised for comfort and traction. Along the way, you'll pass a dead tree zone, a remnant of an old swamp, as well as clear signs of logging activity on the hillsides - visible clear cuts offer a contrast to the otherwise dense vegetation. There are a few stream crossings with culverts and one mildly steep climb that might challenge low-clearance vehicles. A notable narrow section has overhanging tree branches and an unseen whoop, so tall or lifted vehicles should proceed with caution. At the trail's end, you'll reach the Hecht Beach trailhead, where a 1.5 kilometer (just under 1 mile) round-trip hike descends about 200 meters through a beautiful, well-maintained forest trail to the ocean. The hike can become very muddy, especially after rain, so bring appropriate footwear.

Difficulty
While technically straightforward, the potholes, narrow width, brushy overgrowth, and one steep section elevate this above a basic access road. This trail is suitable for stock 4WD vehicles, but drivers should use caution--particularly in wet or muddy conditions.
History
Willie Hecht, whom the beach is named after, was an early pioneer of the Cape Scott area.
