Trail Overview

Devils Ridge when run from its east entrance starts as a very unsuspecting sandy wash with very few features aside from some loose rocks up to 12" in size. However, it quickly changes to an extremely narrow shelf road that follows the side of the canyon wall above the dry river bed below. It is advised to not take any vehicle with an 83-inch or greater track width due to the more narrow sections of the trail. Many portions of the shelf road are off-camber up to 16 degrees of roll on a loose rocky surface that is showing signs of erosion in many sections. There is one tight hairpin turn that is off-camber and eroded that must be taken cautiously with the right line choice. Once on the shelf road there is no room to turn around and it is barely single vehicle wide, proceed with caution if in a wider vehicle or longer wheelbase vehicle. Towards the west end of the trail, the surface is primarily larger loose rocks, most under 14" in size. It is recommended to take this trail slowly and with caution, and due to the lack of cell service for the entirety of the trail, it is also advised to go with at least 1 additional vehicle.
