Trail Overview

Waterhole Creek trail begins at Gold Hill - (Road 770) and climbs up through dense timber and along an open ridge to Prospect Peak where it drops off onto Big Creek road. The trailhead is designated by a blue marker, this is trail 15 in the US forest service Palouse Trail System. On the Big Creek side it is marked by a metal sign. This trail has a series of climbs and drops with some large water bars. Several hairpin turns, some tree roots and rocky sections along the way there are a couple of steep incline sections. The trail is well shaded for maybe 70% which is very nice on a hot summer day. On the gold hill side there is a large tree that hangs over the trail that may prohibit vehicles that are too tall to pass.
