Cross Canyon - FS 6217

Trail Overview

Cross Canyon is a 2.8-mile out-and-back gravel road that leads to the Cross Canyon Trailhead. The road is well-maintained for its entire length, with only occasional potholes. Along the route, there are several glimpses into Big Hole Canyon to the northwest. Multiple small, level pull-offs provide opportunities for dispersed camping, along with a larger turnaround area at the end. Cross Canyon is open year-round.

Difficulty

As a smooth gravel road, Cross Canyon is suitable for 2WD and low-clearance vehicles. While the road is generally in good condition, maintenance is seasonal, and weather conditions such as rain or snow can significantly impact the difficulty. As with most trails in the area, bringing a chainsaw or equipment to clear fallen trees is recommended.
