Trail Overview
This trail begins off the pavement of North Wenas Road, where you'll find signage, a map, and posted rules. It climbs steadily into the hills, passing through a gate that must be closed behind you. Wildflowers are often abundant along the route. The trail eventually meets and follows a canyon for a stretch, forming a narrow shelf road. One section is notably off-camber, with up to a 14% tilt. The surface is primarily dirt, with rutted and washed-out sections generally less than a foot deep. Expect a bumpy ride with occasional rock garden sections, but the reward is expansive views that stretch for miles. Camping is permitted along the trail, though a Washington Discover Pass is required. Campfires are prohibited from April 15 through November 15, and camping is limited to 21 days. Cell service is generally decent, and you're about 15 minutes from services where the trail reconnects with the main road. A high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
