Trail Overview

West Side starts on the edge of one of the dirt roads in the Laguna Hills, and goes across a flat desert terrain that is packed loose rock. There are several rock "goal posts" that help mark the trail. It winds along the rolling desert hilltops and drops into a rocky wash. The trail can be a bit hard to see when it enters and exits the wash, but look for the rock cairns. It starts climbing up a few rocky hillsides that are really red, where the trail narrows up and side-hills with mild exposure, but you get really great views from atop the ridge. It passes a couple of intersections for other trails, then goes through a wash that has chunky embedded rock layers that you ride over.

Access Description

There are several dirt bike trails within the Laguna Hills trail system near Fortuna Foothills, Arizona. There isn't a formal staging area, but riders can access the trails through the system of roads north of the canal. There are a couple of parking and staging options. On the east side of the trail system, you can park at the west end of Adair Park Road and enter the trail system at the levee. There are several small camp spots along the canal on the levee road. On the northwest side of the trail system, you can also enter at the other levee (from South Laguna Dam Road), and you'll find easy dispersed camping here as well. You can also access this trail system from Mittry Lake, which is a popular spot for camping as well.
