Trail Overview
Gear Down is a 1.4-mile-long loop that offers an easy ride through forested areas and open meadows filled with tall grass and wildflowers. The trail has a few small climbs with embedded rocks and mildly steep descents, but overall the terrain remains manageable for less experienced riders. It's a bit steeper in spots than both nearby trails, Crankshaft and Arm Pump. Riders will navigate tight turns through trees and a few sharper, banked corners that add variety without increasing difficulty. There is mild side-hilling with low exposure, and the path is easy to follow. Flowy meadow sections provide fun, fast riding, and the trail offers sweeping views toward the Teton mountain range. Gear Down is open to two-way traffic and is likely frequented by both mountain bikers and dirt bikers, so watch for oncoming traffic.
