Trail Overview

This 4.3-mile trail is a long, easy route that winds constantly through the forest. It passes scenic rock outcroppings and mossy rock walls, with a lush canopy overhead. The trail is full of mud puddles from end to end, with occasional minor loose rocks, shallow ruts, and downed logs. It also passes sections of oil and gas infrastructure. The path follows a gentle shelf with small hills up and down, maintaining very gradual elevation changes throughout.

Access Description

The Bearwallow Trail System is located near the ATV-friendly town of Logan, West Virginia, with direct access to gas, food, and lodging. Known for a mix of easy scenic trails and extreme trails, Bearwallow is one of the more popular trail systems within the broader Hatfield McCoy network. The trailhead has a two-acre parking lot, restrooms, and permit sales. Permits are available only through local vendors or onsite facilities and are valid through December 31 of the purchase year.
