The trail showcases rocky slopes, rolling ridges, and canyons, predominantly covered by shrub-steppe habitat. It features hard-packed dirt. The terrain transitions from high desert landscapes to alpine forest. Numerous viewpoints provide stunning vistas of the Cascade Mountain Range. Spring is the best time to visit, as wildflowers are in bloom.

Access Description

Take Exit 115 to Kittitas. Head west on 1st Avenue toward Main Street. Turn right onto Main Street, then turn left onto Patrick Avenue. Next, turn right onto Fairview Road, turn left onto Radar Road, and finally turn right onto Naneum Road. There is a large pullout where you can camp in the Naneum Ridge State Forest. Be on the lookout for free-range cattle, as they are common in the area and are generally accustomed to vehicles. Usually, they will stay in place, so be sure to drive slowly around any livestock you encounter.
