Quilomene Ridge Road

You can’t drive all the way down to the river on this trial. There is a gate at the very end that someone drove through, stating the area is closed for restoration. People have been driving through it but please don’t so we don’t end up with more trail closures.

Great trail with views over the canyons and perfect Camp spot at trail-head. In the beginning one modestly steep incline with loose pebbles, some deeper groves all along and a shallow water crossing with steep banks right at the end. Great weekend-trip! BEWARE: there are rattlesnakes in the area, especially in the shrubbery along the Columbia river (trail-head). Be extra careful here and stay on designated paths.

Started at the Black Rock Canyon area at Christensen road and took it all the way to the Columbia River. Lots of mud, snow, and rocky conditions. Awesome views of the area and a the last few miles going to the river are in a valley of basalt and other rock formations. Also spotted deer and grouse.

Was able to experience snow, ice, dirt, rocks, and mud. The first couple mile I stayed in 2H until it got snow and rocky and we aired down and went 4L. it had rained the night before so there was muddy water holes and melted snow. Make sure to read signs if you plan on going off this trail to another trail. You can complete this trail in on day. It was dark when we got back to the start because we would stop often for pictures or sight see. Make sure you have recovery gear, radio and either Kendrick rope or winch because there was where we had to move a big rock to the left out of trail patch to get around. I have stock Willy and made it just fine.
