Trail Overview
The Larch Mountain Trail has two sections - East and West. The West portion has had heavy logging recently, which cut the trail off, requiring traveling on a forest road for a little under three-quarters of a mile to get between the two sections of the West trail. There are several trail crossings over forest roads throughout the trail. Some trail crossings have signs, others do not, but it is overall easy to follow. The trail is 2-way, so you may turn around at any point. Be aware of other riders. The trail gets very slick in areas during rainy months, as much of the surface is red clay. When dry, the trail is very fast and flowy. The trail takes you through thick forest and into open clearings. Lots of different dirt and terrain environments. Note that all Capitol Forest trails are ONLY open May to November 30, and are CLOSED to motorized use the rest of the year. Be aware of cyclists, hikers, and other riders.

Difficulty
The trail is relatively easy to pass with some experience. For new riders, it will be a challenge but doable. Quads will have a little harder time as the trail gets narrow with rocks and roots spread throughout the trail. Most obstacles are avoidable on a dirt bike.
