Trail Overview
This gravel forest road is an easy drive overall. The route is narrow in most places and is generally only one vehicle wide, but there are occasional pull-offs for passing. The trail gradually climbs and includes a few ledges with drop-offs. Aside from two switchbacks, the road is mostly straight with minor washboarding throughout. This road was originally a point-to-point route connecting two separate roads, but a severe washout that was never repaired has turned it into an out-and-back trail. The eastern side is now known as East Boulder Ridge, while the opposite side of the washout is referred to as West Boulder Ridge. There are dispersed campsites along the route, along with scenic views of the surrounding peaks. Cell service is limited to nonexistent, and there are no amenities available. Under normal conditions, the trail should be passable for most vehicle types.
