Trail Overview

Phillips Lick, designated as Forest Road 381, is a mostly well-maintained route with a surface that alternates between gravel and dirt. Several sections show light rutting from rain runoff on the hills, but the trail remains easy overall. A few shallow mud puddles appear along the way, though none present significant difficulty. Vegetation overgrowth is light. The trail is a spur off Hite Hollow and is open year-round. Dispersed camping is permitted along the entire route. Two established campsites sit along the trail, each large enough to accommodate a couple of tents and offering level ground with adequate space. The trail ends with a small turnaround area.

Access Description

Getting there will be much quicker from the west side of Hite Hollow, as this is closer to pavement and well-maintained. Though all of the best scenery of Hite Hollow is on the east, which is longer, rockier, and slower going.
