Trail Overview

MV5 is a 1.6-mile trail that starts out wide and easy from the south end, featuring large waterbars and a mix of light ruts, loose rock, and occasional bigger embedded rock. The trail has a mix of sun exposure and denser shaded forest. It has semi-steep spots but also gradual, easy spots. It can be combined with MV22 to form an easy loop, with both trails offering similar low difficulty and terrain characteristics. It also accesses several single tracks.

Access Description

The Mountain View trail system is part of the Spearhead network of trails in southwest Virginia. There are 3 trailheads- one in St. Paul, Virginia, and two in Coeburn, Virginia. Permits are available online for either a 3-day or annual pass.
