Trail Overview
Hodges Draft, also known as State Route 81, is a well-maintained gravel road with no significant obstacles. The trail is generally uneventful, and the scenery is limited to the surrounding forest. The first portion of the route passes through private property with a right-of-access corridor leading into U.S. Forest Service land. Dispersed camping is permitted only within the national forest. A sign marking the forest boundary appears roughly halfway along the trail. Expect seasonal overgrowth in the spring, including thorns and dense brush along the edges of the corridor. Traffic is seldom seen on this trail, and it remains quiet throughout most of the year. This is a seasonal trail and is open 1/01 - 2/11, 4/08 - 5/13, and 10/01-12/31. The trail ends with limited space to turn vehicles around. Multiple vehicles may find the turnaround area tight. Because the beginning half of the route crosses private land, users should remain respectful and avoid stopping until reaching national forest property.

Difficulty
The trail is well-maintained with no significant obstacles. There is one very shallow creek crossing and a cattle grate, but these should not pose a challenge.
