Trail Overview

This 1.5-mile segment of Sovereign Single Track is windy atop the desert mesas and goes around the mesa's rim through sagebrush and boulders. It's a mix of slab slickrock, dirt, and loose rocks, with small and easy rock ledges. The trail has signposts at the intersections and sometimes has cairns to help follow it. The trail meanders the desert landscape, going up and over slab rock mounds, back into the dirt, and in and out of washes. It's pretty fast and flowy at times. It climbs atop the mesas from the valley floor below to have cool expansive views. It goes right next to huge boulders and slabs of rock, making for a unique desert experience. This trail doesn't have any significant obstacles on it and is pretty easy compared to the other segments of Sovereign.

Access Description

The Sovereign Trails Area is an extensive trail system north of Moab with several single tracks and ATV trails, mostly of intermediate or advanced difficulty. The system is most easily accessed off of Willow Springs Road or Dalton Wells Road. Most of the trail system can be ridden over the course of a couple days. You'll likely share the trails with mountain bikers. The trails are best in spring, fall, and winter, as the area is extremely hot in the summer.
