Trail Overview

Non-Resident OHV permits apply to ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. Plated street-legal vehicles typically do not need one on legal motorized routes. This route begins as a fairly simple and wide graded dirt road that provides an easy northern gateway into the Dome Plateau area. Early on, drivers should watch for several washouts that can create uneven crossings or deeper ruts depending on recent weather. Along the way, you will pass a natural gas facility before the route becomes narrower, rougher, and more off-road in character. The trail continues through open desert terrain with excellent views of Arches National Park and the distant La Sal Mountains. Near the end, spur routes branch off to overlooks above Cordova Canyon, Lost Spring, and the Lost Spring Wilderness Study Area. In the distance, it may appear that the route continues farther, but a gate blocks vehicle travel into the national park boundary. Several BLM designated route spurs are signed along the way, and limited dispersed camping opportunities may be found in the area.
