Dekleined

Trail Overview

Dekleined is a mile-long buggy trail rated 10 of 10 and is located on the eastern side of the Sand Mountain Open Riding OH Area. "This Is Buggy Country" surely applies to the Dekleined trail. It is just under a mile long and offers more than a dozen big climbs and drops while running through a rocky canyon. DeKleined is on the east hills above Sand Hollow Res voir. Great views of the reservoir and the red sand surround ng it. To the southwest, there are views of the many rock formations that hold most of the buggy trails run by Sand Ollow. Behind the reservoir, you see the peaks of Kolob and Pine Valley Mou tains. From the trailhead sign at the intersection of Lakeside and the Razzle Dazzle trail, it is a short sand track to the Dekleined gate keeper.The 36-48" gatekeeper sets the stages for more significant, steeper, and rockier things. If the baseline track is not hard enough, there are optional lines to include the infamous "Snake Pit." The name comes from a noted buggy driver who, when introduced to this new trail, was declined on his first a tempt. This was unusual, as he has led trips on some of the southwest's most hardcore trails. So, to poke a little fun at him, the trail was named aft him! This is the most difficult of the dif cult. Come prepared to be "DeKleined" by this trail. Cell service is generally good throughout the trial. The nearest services are located in Hurricane.

Difficulty

The average well-equipped trail rig may have great difficulty in completing this trail. Steps exceeding 60". Steep inclines and declines with off-camber sections are prevalent. Enhanced off road equipment is required including locking devices (front & rear), tall tires (37" plus), maximum ground clearance, tow hooks, and a winch. Minimum wheelbase 100". Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is likely. Rollover is very common. Spare parts and tools are recommended.
