Trail Overview

Located in the Uinta National Forest of northern Utah, this loop will take you over 10,000 feet in elevation. The lack of oxygen is not the only thing that will take your breath away, as this trail provides ample viewpoints of Currant Creek Reservoir. This ride is a stunning masterpiece of orange, yellow, and red if traversed during the autumn months. The trail is mostly hard-packed dirt with a short and somewhat steep, rocky section on the east end of it. Driven in a clockwise direction, this rocky section is downhill. Take a break on the trail at Currant Creek Reservoir to swim, fish, or have a picnic.

Rough/Deteriorated
Half of it is graded nice roads, can travel 40mph down, other half is slow with a very large portion going up steep rock in 4lo. Did it just fine in a nearly Stock Tacoma, but it did take a while. Started around 11am, ended around 5pm.

Great trail. Lot of dispersed camping sites. Mostly empty even over the weekend. Lot of exposure to wind on the sites near the peaks and ridges. The road was dusty and rutted in places but nothing technical. Saw plenty of trucks with trailers and side by sides.

Deep Snow
Far west side of the loop at the intersection near Currant Creek Peak obscured by deep snow. Spent an hour getting a nice gentleman and his grandkids out of the mess, along with another Good Samaritan with a kinetic rope. Fun times, not! Everyone safe and sound with no damage but someone’s pride.
