Trail Overview

Badger Creek and Skunk Creek are the two main trails used to connect Tropic Reservoir Road and Proctor Canyon. Proctor Canyon will take you off the mountain and down to Highway 89 at the town of Hatch. This trail system was extremely beautiful until the recent fires devastated the area. The trails are open; however, many of the trees that provided shade during the hotter periods are gone. The brilliant red rock structures near the top are still there, and they are even more prominent. These mountains are very beautiful, and over tim,e the trees will return to the area.

Difficulty

This trail is generally a wide single track or a narrow two-way. There are some rocks, smaller washes, and other obstacles, but most higher clearance vehicles should be able to traverse the area without too much difficulty. As always, judgment must be used as trail conditions change rapidly in this area with severe thunderstorms and winter runoff. This road does receive periodic road maintenance.
