Trail Overview
Three Forks starts off at Park Road 1 at the first low water crossing you come to as you come down PR1, taking a right which then forks about a hundred yards into it. At the fork, you take a right, which begins the trail continuing down the creek bed with a canopy of trees and loose rock on the trail. As you make your way down the trail, you will encounter some trees that are in the middle of the trail that you can make your way around. There is one tight spot about 3/4 of the way down the trail where a large tree root sticks out of the ground, pushing you towards a tree that is across from it. As you make your way down Three Forks, you will encounter the trail heads (in order) to Tank Trap, East Fork, South Fork, and West Fork. This trail ends at the fork from which the South Fork and West Fork begin. Although this trail is rated 4, taking one of the connecting trails to exit Three Forks will require high clearance 4x4 vehicles and is rated a 7+. This trail is technically a two-way trail, but is a narrow trail and difficult for passing.

Difficulty
As the beginning of this trail is easy through a bed of loose smaller rocks, the trail increasingly gets more difficult as you make your way through. A couple of the obstacles you will encounter are trees in the middle of the trail, and a couple of narrow spots where trees are that will require some clearance to overcome, and a few rutted out spots from creek wash. Be aware some overhanging and leaning trees throughout the trail. This trail is rated a 4, but understand getting out of this trail will require either turning around and going back or taking 1 of the 4 trails that are rated a 7+ of difficulty to exit Three Forks.
