Trail Overview

Street Legal, 4WD, High Clearance vehicles only. Cerro Prietto Road is a non-maintained road and should be approached as so. This road edges across hilltops and ridgelines in the Northern section of the Ranch. There are two main washes to cross, and they should be avoided if any water is flowing at all. Wait a few hours, and the water should subside; then pass with caution. Pinstriping is to be expected, as this road is rarely utilized. There are no designated campsites along this road. This road offers a few loose rock hill climbs and a few spots of washed-out road that allow for rock stacking.

Difficulty

While this is not a technical drive, the rains change things often and create washes in a quick time. Rock stacking should be expected in various locations. The two creek crossings can present a challenge with either flooding or sugar sand; the monsoon season will depict either.
