RBS 2

Trail Overview

RBS 2 is a connector trail that links the main staging area at the intersection of Grave Gap Trail and Massengale Mountain Trail to Long Pit Road. This is a two-way trail that serves as a key route through this section of the Royal Blue trail system. The trail is primarily dirt and rock, with a generally easy layout rated at 3 out of 10. Most of the trail is wide enough for vehicles to pass without much difficulty, making it a good option for steady travel between trails. About halfway through, there is a notable washout section. While it is passable, it requires extra attention due to a significant drop-off along the edge. Staying focused and picking a careful line is important here, especially for less experienced drivers. There are also a few areas where water runoff from nearby springs crosses the trail. These spots can become slick and more challenging when heading uphill, particularly after rainfall.

The majority of the trail is wide, with a dirt and rock surface that is manageable for most vehicles. The main factor increasing the difficulty is the washout about halfway through the trail. While it is passable, the large drop-off along the edge means drivers need to stay focused and choose their line carefully. In addition, sections with water runoff from nearby springs can become slick, especially when traveling uphill or after rain. Under normal dry conditions, most stock 4x4 vehicles can handle this trail without issue, but drivers should still be cautious in those specific areas.
