Trail Overview
The west end of Trail 117 begins directly across from the Trials Area, near Storm Shelter 1. This half-mile trail features a steep but brief climb through a dense forest of rhododendron and hardwoods such as white ash, loblolly pines and sourwoods. The route is largely free of rock but includes uneven terrain with exposed roots and tight corners winding between the trees. Despite its short length, the trail's natural surface and quick elevation gain provide a slightly more technical experience. Trail 117 offers a concise but engaging ride for those seeking a wooded, root-laced adventure. It connects to the more difficult Trail 15 on the east end.
