Trail Overview
FS 231.4 is a short but well-maintained spur off the main 231 corridor, offering easy access deeper into the hills without much challenge. It's solid gravel with good drainage, typically passable year-round unless snowed in. The road winds gently through dense pine and mixed fir, with minimal ruts and wide enough shoulders in a few places to make for quick turnarounds or scout stops. While it's not a destination route on its own, it serves as a clean connector to nearby trails and spurs, especially if you're linking up a network like Camp Five or heading toward the tougher White Tail Peak area. No camps right on it, but plenty of potential just off the sides if you're looking to tuck in somewhere quiet. Pack in, pack out, leave no trace, and tread lightly.

Difficulty
This is a well-maintained road; however, it doesn't go without saying that there are a few blind corners and steep shoulders. Check local conditions, as heavy rains can turn it quite muddy.
