Trail Overview

Road open to all. 448.1A is off of Bogus Jim Road and contributes to the large amount of motorized recreational trails in the area. Starting on 448.1C this section is a relatively easy 2-track. Featuring ruts and small rocks. Eventually, the road open to all turns into a trail open to all 6326. From this point forward, the trail becomes much more difficult. Expect to use your rock rails and skid plates. Rock rash on rims is to be expected, as the trail features several rock outcroppings that users are expected to navigate. Users are to expect a moderate challenge in a high clearance 4x4 equipped with low range. Rocker damage is possible if not equipped with rock sliders. There are several washed-out spots along the trail that will test the limits of your suspension. Once you've made your way through 6326, you will end up on the road open to all, 448.1A. This provides quick views of the surrounding peaks. Eventually, users end back up on 448. There are no legal bypasses along this route. Users may see illegal bypasses along this trail. It is important that users stay on the trail to help keep these trails open. *Special Note*: The infamous "Jake" rock crawling route can be found along 6326. This separate trail is a 6+ rated trail, with body damage likely. Do not run Jake if you are not comfortable with extreme difficulty rock crawling. There are off-camber crawls that are known to snap axle shafts and shred tires within the Jake rock crawling route. You will need a Motorized trail permit for this trail. Help us keep the historical sites, the beautiful views, and the trails clean. Pack out what you pack in. Mud Bogging in the Black Hills is illegal. Do not use the trails when they are saturated. Go over, not around, obstacles along the trail. There are no legal bailouts or bypasses on this trail. Campfires while dispersed camping are illegal. The Black Hills 4x4 community gladly and proudly embraces the Tread Lightly! guidelines, and it is asked that you help us do our part to protect the adventure by following those guidelines.
