The Francis Marion National Forest, situated north of Charleston, South Carolina, pays homage to the Revolutionary War hero known as the Swamp Fox, Francis Marion. Encompassing the entire Middle Atlantic coastal forests ecoregion and the Subtropical coniferous forest, this park offers a diverse range of trails. This particular trail provides access to the McConnell Landing on the Santee River, an ideal spot for launching a small kayak or motorized boat. A spacious camping area, complete with a designated fire ring and ample parking, awaits visitors atop the hill at the end of the road.
