Trail Overview
This is a standard state forest road. It is out-and-back and provides access to a single dispersed motorized campsite that can be reserved on Reserve America, as with all Pennsylvania sites. It also provides access to several hiking trails in Sproul State Forest and a couple of camps/hunt clubs leased out by the state. It's an easy and pleasant drive with a circle to turn around in at the end. As with most of Sproul State Forest, it is fairly remote- cell service is spotty at best, and there are few places to provision. Plan accordingly. Do not confuse this with Jerry Run Trail, which is primarily a shared-use trail, though it accommodates motorized use for about a mile to access the two leased camp driveways at that point. As of March 2026, it was actively being logged, so be on alert for logging trucks and be aware that some of the areas just logged are a bit less scenic than usual. It also means there are some access roads to log landing zones that do not show on the map. These do not give access to anything other than the landing zones and should be avoided, especially when logging vehicles are active. If interested in the campsite, verify its status with the DCNR forest district office until the logging is completed.
