Trail Overview
This scenic and quiet trail winds along the stream at Dents Run. There are lots of pullouts for parking to fish the stocked stream or simply enjoy nature and the sound of the stream. There is plenty of wildlife here beyond the fish. I've seen a young black bear run across the road here! It's paved briefly near Pennsylvania Route 555, where it passes by several homes. As it enters the forest, it becomes gravel and stays that way for the rest of the way. Belle Draft Road is a connecting trail that goes through similarly relaxing parts of Elk State Forest. Seeing elk here is not out of the question, either. The eastern portion of this track ends at Porcupine Road and the border with State Game Land 311, though you can continue through the game land and pick up the western portion after it.

History
Dents Run Road is at the center of the famous "Lost Gold of Dents Run" legend. In 1863, a Union wagon train supposedly carrying 52 gold bars destined to pay soldiers disappeared in this area, prompting treasure hunts, federal investigations, and modern intrigue. The FBI even conducted a dig here in 2018, though nothing has officially been found.
