Trail Overview

This very bumpy out and back has a few great camping options, and smith flat appears to have been taken back by game trails and the tall grasses and sagebrush. The route progresses down through a canyon with stunning rock formations on either side--many glowing with mosses that cling to the rock walls. The trail ends at a private ranch gate. This is a private property without through access, and one should turn around here where it's pretty narrow. A spotter would come in handy with longer rigs. The trail is very rocky, and careful tire placement should be used to avoid sidewall damage. There are a few deep washouts and transitions and one relatively steep off-camber section. One bar of Verizon cell service at the top fades to none once on the trail.

Difficulty

Large Boulders, Off-camber sections, deep washouts and ruts, and a narrow turnaround at the end.
