Trail Overview
Prepare to get your rally on! The Farmer Creek trail is a fast and furious, adrenaline-pumping descent that serves as the perfect, high-spirited conclusion to your Buzzard Butte adventures. Starting just below the summit, this smooth and well-graded gravel forest service road meanders nearly eight miles down through the dense, vibrant Oregon Coast Range. The track is predominantly single-lane, winding beautifully through lush, towering evergreens and sun-drenched clearings. It generously features frequent, wide pullouts that make passing oncoming traffic a breeze. Because the surface is so impeccably maintained, it is extremely tempting to carry a lot of momentum through the sweeping, forested corners. However, drivers must exercise absolute discipline near the bottom. The final half-mile of this exhilarating downhill run transitions abruptly into a quiet residential housing neighborhood before terminating at Highway 101. Please respect the local community by checking your speed early and keeping dust to an absolute minimum as you exit the forest.

Difficulty
From a technical off-road perspective, this Forest Service road presents virtually no difficulty and is easily navigable by any standard passenger vehicle. The impeccably smooth and fast gravel tread eliminates the need for high clearance or specialized 4WD traction aids. Instead, the primary challenge of Farmer Creek lies entirely in driver discipline and speed management. The inviting surface encourages a spirited driving style, making it dangerously easy to enter blind corners too quickly. Drivers must remain hyper-vigilant for oncoming traffic and must strictly rein in their momentum before transitioning into the residential neighborhood at the bottom of the hill.
