Trail Overview

Follow the corridor of the Salmonberry River through a beautiful river bed on a well-maintained gravel logging road. At the end of the route lies the source of this mighty river of which winds through the aptly named Salmonberry Canyon to the Pacific Ocean. Known for its rugged cliff faces further west and full of history, this river is one of the largest producers of wild Steelhead in the Nehalem. The route itself is a trek involving the occasional pothole, with the occasional logging truck possible, so pack a CB radio. It also connects to multiple other trails along the Tillamook State Forest, allowing a full-day trip surrounded by some of the best tree cover the Coastal Range has to offer.
