Trail Overview
Trail 742 is a wide and easy route through the Umpqua National Forest. It is road-width, on a unique dark red-colored dirt, with light rutting, but no major obstacles. The trail starts off the Kelsay Calamut Loop Road. It winds through the pine trees, on a very gradual and steady ascent, with no obstacles. The path was cleared of any logs by late May. The legal trail per the MVUM ends after about 1.5 miles, where the path comes to an intersection and it starts to peter out, and an unmarked path continues to the right for another mile or so. This is just a dead-end spur that ATV riders can explore for more mileage, but will have to be ridden as an out-and-back.
