Trail Overview

The 12-mile Prairie Trail begins at Horse Creek Road and ends at Dunn Road or vice versa, and rolls out across open country that mixes prairie stretches, scattered timber, and gentle elevation changes. The route follows a series of old rural paths that feel untouched and authentic, giving the ride a peaceful, wide-open character while still offering enough ruts, soil changes, and creek dips to keep things interesting for both SXS and 4x4 drivers. As you work your way east, the trail transitions from open grassland to lightly wooded corridors before passing near the quiet historic grounds of Oak Grove Cemetery--a reminder of the early settlers who shaped the area. From there, the terrain gradually descends toward Horse Creek, where the ride finishes with more moisture in the soil, tighter turns, and a scenic creekside atmosphere. The trail is approachable for most vehicles but still gives drivers a true backcountry Oklahoma experience. This is a great route for anyone who enjoys long, flowing rural trails, local history, and a mix of prairie and creek-bottom scenery. Twelve Mile Prairie Trail consists of Horse Creek Road, South Willow Road, Boundary Road, Stallings Road, Dairy Road, Grey Hill Road, and Dunn Road. Dairy is subject to flooding during spring rains.
