Trail Overview
Trail 1A is a wide OHV route ascends steadily up the mountain, climbing 300 feet over just over half a mile. The trail is fast and flowy, with gradual curves and waterbars placed throughout to manage runoff. Despite the leaf litter that can obscure the trail surface, it rides smoothly overall. Expect to encounter some small embedded rocks and patches of loose rock, but nothing that significantly breaks the rhythm of the ride. Occasional downed or overhanging trees may be present, but most are petite and skinny branches that can be managed. Trail 1A also intersects with the 2A spur, providing a shortcut back to Trail 2, and connects on the southern end with Trail 1. This is a great connector trail for riders looking to bypass longer portions of Trail 1 while still enjoying a scenic and flowing climb.
