Trail Overview
Rawhide is a looped trail that connects to the Guadalupe Rim Road and is a combination of rock and dirt. Rock gardens are scattered throughout along with some loose rocks and gravel, with no obstacles larger than 10". In dirt areas there is minor rutting and some low-lying areas do have the potential for shallow water crossings after rain. 4x4 vehicles will have no issue completing the trail and AWD vehicles with good clearance will be able to complete the track as well. There are areas where the foliage makes the track narrow, and while it is a single two-track trail there is sufficient room to pass if needed. There are several areas for dispersed camping along the route with wide open views. Wildlife is abundant in this area as well as cattle. Cell service is spotty in lower areas and stronger on the higher elevations towards the south end of the trail.
