Trail Overview
From the south, this trail starts as a wide dirt trail between the pinyon trees, with portions of the trail in the beginning that are full-width roads. It turns off of the main road back into pinyon trees on a narrower trail. It's a bit rutted and uneven, with washouts. The trail goes over chunky layers of dirt in a ravine, where you have to straddle the ruts. It has some off-camber spots due to erosion of part of the trail. It keeps winding around small dirt hills, with a couple of steeper climbs. After about a mile, the trail turns right into a narrower wash that doesn't have many tracks to follow as it looks less ridden. It heads towards the Johnson Arroyo, but this wash is narrower and you have to pick your way through the branches and trees more.
