Trail Overview

Cobra starts off from the south end with several advanced slickrock ledges right away. They are steep ~5-foot-tall rock ledges. There is an optional challenging obstacle between two tall and skinny rock pinnacles near the beginning. It drops down into a wide sandy wash with signs to follow for the route, but the wash narrows up and becomes very rutted and off-camber and tight between the bushes. It exits the wash as it climbs up an undercut 2-foot tall ledge, then drops down a series of ledges covered in sand next to a scenic rock wall. The trail goes through a narrow pinch between the rock layers straight into a 6+ foot tall ledge, which is one of the harder non-optional obstacles on the route. The "Cobra Wall" is an optional obstacle that is an extreme 10 difficulty that is a near-vertical slickrock slope 20 feet tall. There are several more advanced obstacles as you ride next to the scenic rock wall. They are 5-foot-tall blunt rock ledges like riding up a wall. Near the end, there are more options for adding a few more challenging obstacles or taking an easy bypass to the finish.

Access Description

The Glade Run Recreation Area is a high desert playground full of extreme rock crawling trails, sandy washes, and desert ridgelines. The southern 3,800 acres are an Open OHV Area, while the northern three-quarters of the rec area is limited to designated routes, which include unvegetated wash bottoms that are wider than the widest part of your vehicle. The main staging area is at the intersection of Glade Road and Pinyon Hills Blvd. The BLM has official ratings for the 4x4 rock crawling trails, but conditions and difficulty ratings are constantly changing in the desert.
