Trail Overview
This fun trail starts just off Highway 6. Make sure to close the gate each time you pass. This is a sixteen mile out-and-back adventure. The first six miles are relatively straightforward with some slightly off-camber sections. There are a few stream crossings. This trail rewards the traveler with beautiful views of Red Peak, Monitor Range Mountains, and Kinney Peak. The last couple of miles become more challenging with deeper drops in and out of stream beds and more uneven and rutted areas. The trail is mostly sandy with some rocks. The wide open valley in the early sections are replaced with a forest of pine trees and sharp bushes, which make the trail narrow. I did spend some time doing trail maintenance to open up the width between the trees.
