Trail Overview
Beautiful easy trail that begins by driving over the dam/spillway for Painted Rocks Lake. The trail borders the lake for a mile or so and offers amazing views of the water with limited access. Access is best from the opposite side of the lake. There are plenty of dispersed camping spots along the way, and it may be busy in the summer months. No winter maintenance. No cell service. Watch for rockslides. You may see elk, deer, large eagles, and chipmunks. The trail ends at the Blue Joint trailhead, where there is plenty of parking and a pit toilet.
