Trail Overview

Trace Creek FS 2673 is a natural terrain Forest Service Road in the Potosi Unit of Mark Twain National Forest. The trail is not far from Martin Road off Missouri Route DD. This trail is short and sweet and gets straight to the point, featuring a small cut-out shortly after entry to camp at or turn around if the trail get's too dicy to continue. From this point, the trail leaves the gravel behind, and leans into tree root obstacles, surface mud, mild erosion, and coarse small rock, enough to feel the need for 4WD, especially when in damp or rainy conditions. At the end of the MVUM-sanctioned track, the trail continues going, but the user must turn around and head back the way the trail was entered.

Difficulty

Trace Creek FS 2673 is given a base rating of 3/10, based on the tree roots in the active erosion ruts, forming little 12" tall increases that require wise tire placement so as not to abruptly end a tire's life, there is also surface mud mixed with standing water on the trail when wet, forming a constant low traction surface, where all above is not present there is a coarse rock found elsewhere throughout the trail.
