Trail Overview

Beasley Hollow (FS 2594) is a Forest Service Road, being mostly semi-maintained gravel leaning towards a natural dirt path at the end, within the Mark Twain National Forest Potosi Unit. Beasley Hollow is named fittingly by the valley that rests to the south of its track as it rides the ridge spines from where it leaves Missouri Route 32, first going north and then west. The track is generally relaxed and easy-going for the first mile having foliage and trees lining the edges with a gravel foundation showing only mild signs of wear, then the last half mile, begins to show its teeth, by the gravel fading to dirt, and the tree lines narrowing to the final stretch of the trail being several small mudholes, before ending at a small opening marked by rough natural rock slab, with a cutout amongst the trees to do a multi point turnaround, here you must turnaround and head back out the way entered, though there is several pathways leading away from here that could be used for hunting purposes on foot.

Difficulty

Beasley Hollow is given a base rating of 3/10 for the mudholes near the western end of the track. being right at the foot deep mark of depth in the ruts and 6 inches of soft mud. Though the rest of the track will ride mostly like a 1/10 rated gravel road with the normal gravel complications of potholes, mounding, and washboards. Difficulty can increase in wet or inclement conditions, heavy use, or with a great lack of maintenance. The road could also see a drop in difficulty if it were to be mended on the far west section by filling in the mudholes or even further by bringing fresh gravel all the way to the turnaround location.

History

On the weekend of December 13th, 2025, OnX Offroad supported a local trash clean-up that was hosted by Heartland Trail Trash, a Missouri-based nonprofit stewardship organization. Heartland Trail Trash gathered 45 volunteers, based out of Council Bluff Lake, to participate in Venture Unknown Foundation's 8-state 13-team Sweep Up The Southeast 2025 (SUTS) event. During this event, Heartland Trail Trash (Team Mark Twain) cleaned the majority of the Bixby-East End area, cleaning the area of trash, tires, and metal that had been illegally dumped, as well as other dump sites in Mark Twain along the Missouri Route 32 corridor, going as far east as Shepard Cutoff. The total trash collection included 72 tires, 800 lbs of recycled metal, and 4500 lbs of trash being removed from Mark Twain National Forest and Iron County. A worthy effort considering that the weather turned extremely cold (32degF at noon, dropping to 3degF that night) and at 2 PM started dropping freezing mist, turning to flurries by 6 PM.
