Trail Overview
This trail forms a scenic loop that takes you through the woods and leads to the top of several steep hill climbs scattered throughout the area. While those climbs are optional offshoots, the main loop itself is fairly mild and manageable for most 4WD vehicles. The base of the trail is primarily dirt, which can hold water, making smaller hard bottom mud puddles, with a few minor off-camber sections and gradual hill climbs along the way. It's a great route for drivers who want to explore the area without taking on intense terrain. At the far end of the loop, the trail opens up to a pleasant turnaround spot with a nice overlook.

History
The Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was built on reclaimed mining land, once part of the rich Mesabi Iron Range that fueled U.S. steel production for over a century. Today, this 1,200+ acre site blends industrial history with outdoor adventure, offering a rare chance to ride through the remnants of Minnesota's mining legacy.
