Trail Overview
The Tomlinson Lake trail is an unmaintained forest route that is rocky, bumpy, and overgrown in sections. As it winds through the woods, drivers should be prepared to encounter fallen trees--some of which may need to be cleared to continue. The trail features moderate ascents and descents and eventually leads to a lake where the trail becomes partially flooded and thick with grass. The presence of grass growing through the water suggests that the flooding is shallow enough to be passable, but caution is advised. Signs of wildlife are evident, including both moose and black bear scat along the trail. At the lake, the route splits into two separate tracks: one is almost entirely reclaimed by the forest, while the other appears less overgrown but shows little sign of recent use. There are no campsites, formal or otherwise, and the trail does not offer any amenities such as water sources, toilets, or trash disposal. Cell service is likely to be weak or nonexistent.
