Trail Overview

This two-track trail is accessed from Kane Lake Road and remains relatively undamaged throughout its length. It winds through a mixed forest of pine and birch, offering a peaceful setting with a variety of wildflowers typically in bloom during July. The trail is mildly bumpy with gentle curves, ascents, and descents, and continues past a quarry/ excavated area before coming to a dead end at a junction, where it is blocked by a "road closed" signboard. A side trail to the left appears to continue but is obstructed by large boulders, making it impassable to vehicles. The surrounding area at the end of the trail may be suitable for dispersed camping, though the space is limited. While there are no developed campsites along this route, dispersed camping is generally permitted in the Superior National Forest as long as it is outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Campers should confirm with local authorities before setting up. The trail lacks amenities such as restrooms, garbage bins, or drinking water, and cell service in this area may be inconsistent or unavailable.
