Trail Overview

This trail was once a route that led to the nearby railway tracks. It starts very narrow, just wide enough for a single vehicle, and opens briefly into a small clearing where a fire ring suggests previous use as a campsite. From there, the trail continues deeper into the forest, becoming progressively narrower and increasingly overgrown. Vegetation closes in on both sides, and overhanging branches scrape against vehicles. The surface is muddy, uneven, and rocky, with several slippery sections that may require careful driving. Eventually, the trail comes to a stop at a clearing that may offer enough space for dispersed camping. However, the tight conditions and poor surface make this route better suited to side-by-sides or ATVs rather than full-size vehicles. There are no formal campsites or services along the trail. Dispersed camping is generally allowed in the Superior National Forest as long as it is outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, though it's best to confirm with local authorities. There are no facilities--no toilets, no trash bins, and no water--and cell service may be limited or unavailable.
