Trail Overview
This trail offers a mix of mild and extreme experiences, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles and skill levels. At the base of the hill, there are large boulder fields where experienced drivers with heavily modified rigs can test their skills. These rock obstacles vary in size, with some large enough to challenge even the most capable setups. For those not looking to crawl over boulders, a dirt road loops around the entire trail system, allowing standard four-wheel-drive vehicles to enjoy the area without tackling the more intense lines. It's a great spot to wheel, spectate, and explore.

Difficulty
This area offers two experiences: a mild dirt road loop for most 4x4s and a rock playground with boulders up to 3 feet tall for built rigs. Drivers can choose their challenge level based on line selection. The boulder section requires careful tire placement, good flex, and high clearance.
History
The Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was built on reclaimed mining land, once part of the rich Mesabi Iron Range that fueled U.S. steel production for over a century. Today, this 1,200+ acre site blends industrial history with outdoor adventure, offering a rare chance to ride through the remnants of Minnesota's mining legacy.
